Why do I follow Jesus?

I started coming to St Peter’s for my daughter. I staring following Jesus while doing Alpha I felt something in me that ‘this is where I need to be’.

Why do I still follow Jesus?

I follow Jesus because he has changed me. I’m a much happier, better person and my family is better since coming to him. I feel safe and strong with him.

Why St Peter’s?

I am part of St Peter’s because I love the people, I love how welcoming everyone is and I love that not one of them judged me about the person I was but helped me through a really hard part of my life even though they didn’t know me that well.

Why do I follow Jesus?

You explore everyday activities and you begin to wonder and see they have an evolving story of God. Reading the bible is so important because God is not ‘visible’ so you need to have faith

Why do I still follow Jesus?

I have the belief that Jesus is the way, the truth and the life

Why St Peter’s?

‘on this rock I will building my church’ and the church is the people

Why do I follow Jesus?

To be part of the love that casts out all fear.

To have in Jesus the friend who stays closer than a brother.

Why do I still follow Jesus?

God did not call us to be alone

Do not neglect to meet together as some are in the habit of doing.

There is much from the book of Hebrews that seems to follow the story of the disciples on the road to Emmaus and so the whole Bible can unlock for us some of the story of where we fit in.

I am following Jesus so am part of his church. Too be part of his church means to follow Jesus But I do this as part of a We.

Why St Peter’s?

To build (collectively as an us) with gratitude on what God has done

To be a fertilising ground for fellowship to be realised (couldn’t really read your writing on this)

Why do I follow Jesus?

I grew up in the church, it has been a part of my life forever.  I still find I have had to make active choices to follow Jesus though.  I believe God makes the most sense, brings the most freedom and His answers to life are the truth.

Why do I still follow Jesus?

I feel caught by God, that there is a safehold on my heart.  It's not confining, but gives freedom.  Why I stil follow Jesus is less about me and more about His enabling.

Sometimes my faith is full of questions and doubts and I want the answers to be straightfoward, but I suppose through these things God gifts me faith to continue following Him.  Being a part of a church is a huge reason why I still follow Jesus, it helps to be with people who are going the same direction as you.

Why St Peter’s?

I love St Peter's for its unassuming nature and the low key vibe. People at St Peter's are active in their faith and open to God's transformation.

Why do I still follow Jesus?

Because I have hope in him and trust him

Why St Peter’s?

When I come to St Peter’s we are family and I enjoy it. The people are really friendly!

Why do I follow Jesus?

I chose to follow Jesus because I realised that the World was not enough - I was never completely content, no matter what I had in life. I felt peace when I went to church for the first time.  When I learnt more about who Jesus is, I was compelled to follow Him.  It was the only way I could live with inner peace and contentment.

Why do I still follow Jesus?

I still follow him because I remember how hard life was without Him and now I know He is real and cannot deny him. I love him - He gives me wisdom, patience, peace, trust, hope: things that my life without Him seriously lacked! I am also encouraged by fellowship with others.

Why St Peter’s?

St Peter’s is near to me so the community is one in which I live. I like the relaxed and informal atmosphere with simple worship, but most importantly the people's authentic faith. I love the diversity of those in the church and their passion for Jesus. I got a very friendly welcome when I first visited and that hasn't changed. I like the vibe which is outward looking - one of the first services I came to was about the persecuted church.

Why do I follow Jesus?

Fragility in the face of loss.

Jesus came into my life when all around had fled following multiple breavement and loss.

Previously slef-reliant and stoical, I learned the lesson the hard way that "No man is an island enitre of itself".

Ps 55:22:- "Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken."

Why do I still follow Jesus?

Finding fulfilment personally and professionally.

Making good the God-shaped defect in my heart that years of psychotherapy training and practice cannot fill.

Fulfilling the promise of Ezekiel 11:19:- " I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh."

Why St Peter's

Finding fruitful and fecund friendship and fellowship.

There is an authenticity about life at St Peters, from the high proportion of people actively involved in church life, to the diversity of the church family.

It embodies my idea of messily ideal ekklesia. The joy is in the imperfection.
