Stories brought to you from Prayers on the Street

Rushing people in good moods; invitations given; prayers for healing for family members and praying in the prophetic.

Walking down the street we met two guys, one American and both brought up as Catholics. They had two boxes of crispy creams and late for work! We started talking and they said we could pray for life, work, friends and family. They were very warm and it was great to chat and pray with them.

We met a friend of St. Peter’s and we prayed for him for more energy and asked him if he had more energy what would he do? He said he would want to pass on more joy around!

We met a lady who was very unhappy about her son who she felt was not doing well so we prayed with her for him and listened to her worries. We met another old friend of our community who we always stop and chat to and prayed for him.

We were received by all but one person we encountered today. We met a man who was in his 60’s and who has lived here his whole life. He used to go to Sunday school as a child and we had a long chat with him about the estate and the architecture. Whilst we were talking one of our youth members then walked past and so one of us went and prayed with him and caught up with how we was doing. We then prayed for this man after a good time chatting and although being very casual when we offered to pray for him during the prayer he was visibly moved and touched by the words spoken, leading from what we had spoken about and so during the prayer it really felt God touched him.

Then we met one lady who was very business like, so it was hard at the beginning to connect with her. However, she asked for prayer for her mum who was in hospital. Earlier when we were praying in the prophetic one of us had a sense of her in management so we asked if she worked in management and she said yes, she did, she shared she worked in safeguarding and so we explained in a non religious way that sometimes when we pray we get a sense of God speaking to us about things. This changed the prayer encounter, so we prayed for her mum but through the prophetic it changed the encounter and brought it close as we prayed for her herself. She was passionate about her work and it was a great encounter.

We met a man who was originally from Saint Lucia. He was a lovely open man and we had a bit of a joke and then he shared about a broken relationship he had and I was able to share my own brokenness and vulnerability and about how Jesus gives us the desires of our hearts. Saying man looks on the outside but God looks at the heart. We invited him to come and join us on a Sunday celebration.

We went to the river and met a guy with headphones who was off to the Doctors and who seemed to have a very heavy heart. He was not in touch with any of his family and asked for prayer for friends and building a community. We had a lovely conversation encouraging him and inviting him and we prayed with him for all the current things on his mind, in particular making friends.

We met a lady who was on her way to look after a boy in palliative care; she had lots of bags with toys. She asked for prayer for the boy but didn’t want to pray with us so we prayed for them both as we walked.

Then we met a man who is familiar with what we do on StreetSeed, and has faith himself. He said everything was fine and well but after pressing a little deeper he then shared that his grand daughter in Jamaica who was pregnant had had a very bad accident coming off her bike. We prayed for her, for healing, thanks for him and thanks for the safety of the baby.

One lady had a very sick daughter. She was a Catholic and she let us pray with her, for her and her daughter. We had a lot of people in a rush who were very pleasant saying things like, ‘I would love that but I can’t stop right now’.

After one turn down we met a Mum we both know through Little Chefs who was walking along with her Aunt and daughter. She accepted prayer saying she was really stressed after finding out her son is autistic. She was comforted by the prayer which made her cry but she looked better afterwards as well. It felt like we were in the right place at the right time to bless her.

After that we prayed for a young woman with a girl in a buggy. She accepted prayer readily for her health – she has asthma and it is quite debilitating. She is Christian and we prayed for her healing.

We met one young male student who struggles with confidence and asked for prayer to help in that area. I was able to share my own story of struggling with confidence and how God had helped me overcome that. He shared about having depression but in a normal way like a lot of people and we talked about mental health in society and prayed for him for that too.
