Prayer & Reflection by Jo Hossain

Mary proclaims the Resurrection to the disciples (NIV John 20:18, Matthew 28:8)

(John 20: 18) Mary Magdalene went to the disciples with the news: “I have seen the Lord!” And she told them that he had said these things to her.

(Matthew 28: 8) So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples.

Reflection

Mary must have been overcome with joy at seeing the Lord, alive. Imagine her running to the disciples to tell them she had seen Jesus! How would you feel? Fear and joy, like these women? Maybe you’ve had an encounter with the Lord and you’ve wanted to shout it from the rooftops, or maybe you’ve been afraid of what people might think. Ask Jesus to reveal himself to you today.

Prayer

Lord, how wonderful is the news that you rose from the dead, defeating death once and for all! I will choose to celebrate today, that Jesus is alive. Thank you for setting me free from the power of sin. Thank you for winning eternal life for me, for restoring access to the Father. Draw close to me today. Amen.
